Michael Matz's Wish For Barbaro www.baltimoresun.comPosted by Picasa

With Barbaro now enjoying
a few great moments
outdoors, many wish
to see Barbaro
and Michael Matz
reunited for quality time together soon.
Shown here are
the two enjoying a
stroll at Fair Hills
Training Center in
Maryland.

Barbaro's Legacy has placed Fair Hill center stage
for using Michael Dickinson's Tapeta
synthetic track in itsupcoming renovations which will include its training track state-of-the-art. The developer's track fiber will provide
a shock absorbing supportive cushion to prevent severe
sprains and catastrophic breakdowns.

Dr. Kathleen Anderson, Fair Hill's veterinarian is focused
on the number 1 reason for horses: Keeping them running
safely, soundly, and preserving their health on the best
possible surface.

Turfway's new Polytrack shows it to be a great improve-
ment in preventing injuries. This year alone they had
on three breakdowns compared to last year's 24 fatal
ones. We pray more Race Tracks follow the leader!

BARBARO's LEGACY CONTINUES...

Barbaro Amazes While He Grazes

While Barbaro now enjoys short walks and grazing
for himself, there was elation in Gretchen Jackson's
voice telling Michael Matz the good news.
"You'll never guess where I am. I'm outside with
Barbaro and he's eating grass!"
Matz replied to reporters, " I was very
happy to hear that. It was the first time he's
been outside since the day he arrived there."

Prior to Barbaro's first outting, University of
Pennsylvania's NBC volunteers were hand-
picking and feeding him fresh grass daily.
The term Hand grazing means Barbaro
is kept on a shank end so he cannot run
free per Dr. Anderson.

Dr. Dean Richardson said that Bobby
would graze daily for about 15 - 20
minutes "as long as he behaves."
Michael Matz echoed, "He's always
been calm when taken out to graze."

According to Dr. Anderson, this is
Barbaro's next step in his Rehabilitation,
ie. "it is safe to walk him a short distance."

His foundering 6 weeks ago prevented
this phase of his therapy. Also, his right
leg healing from multiple fractures was
still not strong enough to walk him
outside until Friday, August 11, 2006.

Barbaro "brightened noticeably" when
he was led on his first trip outdoors by
Susan Danner, Michael's farm assistant.

Dr. Richardson continues to be "very pleased"
with Bobby's progress along with "his measurably
gaining weight and overall great attitude."
However, in and Assocated Press phone interview,
he made it clear "Barbaro is not out of the woods
yet" and cautioned getting too overly optimistic.

Debra, Very thankful you and Bond Beauty made it back safely. Know it was a bit disappointing when she ran out of steam at the end.

Since seeing several tapes of horses racing that won those races, it appears those Champions were held back to pace themselves and pulled ahead with extra reserves. Wonder if some slight retraining for Bond Beauty would help increase her strength & endurance so she increases it safely?

Know you must be giving her some great nutritionals besides generous amounts of LOVE. Did you take a look at www.springtimeinc.com?

Thanks guys for sending me those really great Springtime Nutritionals. Dr. Richardson explained everything so I would be willing to take them. Spirulina Wafers remind me of my baby greens.
They help boost my immune system and keep me from getting those dreadful and painful stomach ulcers we horses get when not able to hand graze for ourselves. Later guys, time for my 15 minutes outside. I JUST LOVE IT -- FRESH AIR & SUNSHINE -- Don't YOU?
